RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Rapid City is hosting a blacksmith conference at Central States Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday.
Hundreds of blacksmiths will provide daily demonstrations, lectures, galleries and vendors at the Artist-Blacksmith's Association of North America conference.
The conference also features a learning tent, where ABANA members can teach different blacksmithing techniques.
The trade from the olden days continues, as many blacksmiths still make a living heating things up and smashing them into new shapes.
People commonly use blacksmith pieces as house accents.
ABANA president Peyton Anderson says there's something at the conference for everyone.
