RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Tribal officials say strong winds damaged several trailer homes on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and sent residents to a local hospital for monitoring.
Oglala Sioux Tribe spokeswoman Donna Salomon said the Saturday night storm blew several trailers away. She says several people suffered injuries when the homes were uprooted. The extent of the injuries is unclear.
The tribe's emergency manager is surveying the damage.
Displaced families are staying with other family members or at the tribe's Prairie Wind Casino hotel.
The tribe will be working with the Red Cross to provide the displaced families clothing, food and personal items.
