Update: Sioux Falls water restrictions lifted

Posted: Updated:

Water restrictions in Sioux Falls were lifted in Tuesday afternoon.

The City of Sioux Falls made the announcement at about 3 p.m. Tuesday. Trent Lubbers with Sioux Fall Public Works says residents should go back to Level 1 scheduling.

Level 1 water restrictions allows residents living at even-number addresses to water on even-number days-- people living at odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-number days. Also, no one is allowed to water their lawns from noon-5 p.m.

The City of Sioux Falls is asking residents to limit water usage because of power outages at the Sioux Falls Water Purification Plant.

According to a news release from the City, there is adequate water for all household usage. However, the City is still asking residents to limit water usage due to the outages until further notice. Sioux Falls residents and businesses are being asked to immediately stop lawn watering, washing cars and other nonessential usage.

The City says the more cooperative and neighborly residents are by restricting outside water usage will reduce peak demands on water production.
