Region 24 Complex Fires scorch across north-central Nebraska

Posted: Updated:

The Incident Management Team fighting fires in north-central Nebraska says fire behavior is reduced significantly Wednesday.

According to the Incident Information System website, The Rocky Mountain Incident Management Type 2 Team B assumed command of the Fairfield Creek Fire on Tuesday and is providing support to the Wentworth and Hall Fires. The fires are being jointly managed and now being called the Region 24 Complex.

A fireline has been constructed around the Fairfield Creek Fire and significant progress has been made with burnout operations constructing lines around the Wentworth and Hall fires.

According to Incident Information System website, the planned actions for Wednesday are to complete and secure fire lines while providing structure protection.

Six-heavy-lift helicopters are also aiding the fight by dropping water on the fire.
