This week Sioux Falls is being exposed to the Navy, a branch of the military South Dakotans may not be that familiar with.
"I think it's important for us to be there because we're in an area that, of course, is landlocked," said Navy Diver Josh Moore.
This is Moore's first trip to Sioux Falls and his first Navy Week. He's a diver for mobile diving and salvage unit one.
"Right now it's a lot of salvage work: picking up ships that have sunk, planes that have sunk, doing harbor clearance," said Moore.
This week, Moore and his fellow sailors are going to area pools to show kids their static display, which includes different diving hats.
"We let them try it on and feel it and see what they think about it because one hat weighs about 27 pounds, so it's a little hefty."
The diver's static display will be at the Washington Pavilion's Kirby Science Center this Friday night. Admission will be free from 5-8pm.
