Winnipeg takes series over Pheasants Sunday

Posted: Updated:

The Winnipeg Goldeyes used three home runs to power past the Sioux Falls Pheasants 7-3 in the rubber game of a three-game series in Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon.

Josh Mazzola's three-run long ball in the bottom of the first gave Winnipeg a 4-2 advantage and the lead for good.  Mazzola homered twice in the game, finishing 3-for-4 with five RBI.

Pheasants started Mitchell Clegg (5-5) struggled with command and suffered the loss. He gave up all seven runs on 11 hits in six innings, walking four and striking out three.

Winnipeg starter Todd Privett (5-4) earned the victory with a quality start. He went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits. Jonny Kaplan and Al Quintana both had two-hit afternoons for the Pheasants.
