A Sioux City woman is battling life threatening injuries after a rollover accident along Interstate 29 on Saturday evening.
According to a news release from the Department of Public Safety, Tiffany Moore, 26, was changing lanes to pass a vehicle ahead of her. When she had moved partway into the passing lane she noticed a vehicle beside her and turned sharply to the right to avoid a collision. The vehicle then left the roadway and rolled down an embankment.
A 2-year-old in the back seat was not properly secured in a child safety seat and was ejected. The Department of Public Safety says an initial investigation indicates the child may have unbuckled the restraints while the vehicle was on the roadway. The 2-year-old was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Moore was wearing a seatbelt. She suffered life-threatening injuries and was air-lifted to a Sioux Falls hospital.
Three other passengers were properly restrained in the vehicle—including a 7-month-old baby. The three suffered only minor injuries.
