Pavilion Spotlight: Commemorative Poster

Posted: Updated:

The Sidewalk Arts Festival is a bustling one-day event that features everything from crafts to fine art. Proceeds from the event go to the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion. Some of those proceeds come from a commemorative poster.

"I think it's lively, cheerful and colorful, and I think people right now seem to be looking for color," said artist Mary Ellen Connelly.

Connelly is this year's local artist. She's proud to be part of a project that was on a ten-year hiatus.

"Let's resurrect this. Let's bring this back to the public and bring this out," said VAC Director David Merhib.

100 of the commemorative posters have been dated and signed by Connelly and will be sold for $100 each. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the VAC.

"We're just thrilled to have her on board and bring this back," said Merhib. "It means a lot to the Visual Arts Museum and our hope is that it's going to mean a lot to the community as well."
