Augustana security officer stops sexual assault

Posted: Updated:

Sioux Falls police are looking for a man who raped a 19-year-old woman around midnight Friday on the Augustana College campus.

The victim, who is not an Augustana student, says she was walking near the Elmen Center, which is located at 2505 South Grange Avenue.  A car pulled into the parking lot and a group of men got out of the car.

The victim says one of the men pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

A custodian saw what was happening and called campus security.  When the security officer drove up on the scene, the man ran away.  The security officer did not see a car or a group of men.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male in his early 20's.  He had a shaved head and was wearing a white polo shirt with green and brown horizontal stripes.

If you have any information, you're asked to call police.
