It was a beautiful Monday afternoon for golf in Sioux Falls, but a better day for raising some money for charity.
The event, a local favorite, the 17th Annual Orion Golf Classic took place at the Westward Ho Country Club.
The two-day event, which is a benefit for the Children's Home Society, featured a youth golf clinic, golf tournament and lunch banquet. It also hosted some pretty big names such as PGA golfers Kirk Triplett and Onida, S.D. native Tom Byrum.
Now in its 17th year, this philanthropic event is continuing to become one of the most talked about in the region.
"I remember when it just started," 17-year event coordinator Graham Marsh said. "It was just four groups, now we have banquets in big event centers with 650 people."
"I love coming back for this event," Byrum said. "It is always nice to participate, see friends and meet new people who want to be part of this great cause. It is always a good time and I enjoy coming."
