A Sioux Falls man is facing an assault charge for pointing a weapon at someone during a failed gun sale.
Sioux Falls police arrested Tyrone Jones, 49, of Sioux Falls for aggravated assault.
The incident happened Monday evening at the corner of 12th Street and Duluth Avenue. Detective Jon Carda says Jones allegedly drove by the victim, stopped and got out of the vehicle. Carda says Jones asked if the victim wanted to purchase a weapon and the victim said no.
Detective Carda says Jones then brought out a large black gun and again asked if the victim wanted to buy it. The victim said no again and that was when Jones allegedly pointed the weapon at the victim before leaving the scene.
Carda says the victim then called police and gave detailed description of the vehicle, the suspect and the weapon. Carda says while the responding officer was still reporting the incident, police pulled over Jones' vehicle at 16th Street and Spring Avenue.
Inside the vehicle, police found a Saiga, which is a Russian model semi-automatic rifle similar to an AK47. Police also found ammunition in the vehicle.
