Update: Semi t-bones car in fatal crash south of Lennox

Posted: Updated:

One person is dead after a fatal crash involving a semi-trailer and a car south of Lennox Thursday morning.

The incident happened at 8:50 a.m. at the corner of 466th Avenue and Highway 18 south of Lennox. Sgt. Robert Schmidt, South Dakota Highway Patrol, said a semi-truck heading east on Highway 18 crashed with a Chevy Malibu heading north.

Schmidt called the crash a very severe impact crash, because the semi-truck did not have any time to stop. According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the driver of the Chevy Malibu died from fatal injuries.

The Department of Public Safety said both drivers were wearing seatbelts and there were no passengers.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The name of the victim is being withheld until relatives have been notified.
