A healthcare center in Hudson is closed after repeatedly failing to comply with Department of Health policies.
South Dakota Department of Health issued a statement Thursday stating Hudson Healthcare Center has a pattern of repeated deficiencies threatening the health and safety of residents.
DOH is working with the Department of Social Services to help relocate the 27 residents at Hudson Healthcare to other facilities in the area.
KSFY News contacted Hudson Healthcare. CEO Joe Ward said, "I just don't get it." Ward said many jobs will be lost because the facility is the largest employer in Hudson.
"It's just so heartbreaking," Hudson said.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have also terminated the facility's Medicare provider agreement, effective August 23.
