Officer Sam Clemens says the Sioux Falls Police Department is phenomenal when it comes to investigating business robberies.
At Thursday's police briefing, Officer Clemens said there have been 18 robberies involving businesses this year with 12 arrests. Clemens said most of the arrests have been made within hours or one day from the crimes.
Clemens also said this year's robbery clearance rate is better than compared to last year. For comparison, in 2011 through August 9th, there were 26 businesses robbed. The 2011 year-end total of businesses robbed was 38.
"In any year it's phenomenal. You look at this and you look at the number of arrests we've made and it's just incredible," Clemens said.
Clemens added, Sioux Falls police should not receive all the credit for the success in robbery investigations.
"It's a testament to not only the investigators we have, but the information we receive from the public through various tips."
