PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Sen. Tim Johnson says his wife, Barbara, is recovering from injuries she sustained in a running accident.
The South Dakota senator says his wife fell and fractured a shoulder and a wrist while running.
Barbara Johnson says she and her husband were looking forward to taking a break and returning to South Dakota while Congress is in its summer recess, but her injuries are not exactly the break they had in mind.
She is recovering in a hospital, where she is undergoing tests to determine the course of treatment.
The senator says he is canceling his scheduled appearances during August because he will be helping to care for his wife during her recovery.
