An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death for a woman whose car crashed into a pond in Mitchell.
Police say the car driven by 61-year-old Jane Strong, of rural Mitchell, veered off the road Thursday afternoon, crashed into a sign and a van in a hotel parking lot, jumped a curb, drove over grass and into the pond, where it sank into 18 feet of water.
It took emergency crews nearly three hours to remove the car. Strong was pronounced dead at the scene.
