402 unverified signatures in Minnehaha Co. property tax opt-out - KSFY News - Sioux Falls, SD News, Weather, Sports

A petition to put Minnehaha County's property tax opt-out to a public vote has not required enough signatures.

According to the Minnehaha County Auditor's office, a total of 402 unverified signatures were delivered late Wednesday afternoon. The petition came after the Minnehaha County Commission approved a $4,000,000 property tax opt-out.

The petition needed 5,332 signatures of Minnehaha County registered voters in order to bring the issue to a public vote. The Auditor's office said no other petitions were received and the office does not plan any more action on the matter.
