PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Former Sen. George McGovern is expected to attend the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the Oahe Dam.
South Dakota Great Lakes Association executive director Karen Kern said the 90-year-old former Democratic presidential nominee is planning to attend the Friday festivities.
McGovern was with President John F. Kennedy for the dedication 50 years ago. He is one of the few surviving dignitaries that will be attending.
Kern says McGovern's presence will enhance the day.
