The Iowa Department of Health has confirmed three cases of West Nile Virus, including two on the South Dakota border.
Lyon, Plymouth and Grundy counties have all confirmed one case of West Nile Virus (as of August 15).
According to the Iowa Department of Health, one positive blood donor was reported in Woodbury County. Two horses from Johnson County have also tested positive for the virus. No mosquito pools or sentinel chickens have tested positive for West Nile virus thus far.
In 2011, there were 9 human cases of West Nile Virus, and 2 deaths resulting from the disease.
