Trial set for school board member accused in underage drinking case

Posted: Updated:

A trial date is set for the former president of the Harrisburg School Board accused of hosting an underage drinking party.

Michelle Schirado, 45, and her husband Brian, 50, did not appear in court Wednesday, but their attorney appeared on their behalf to enter a not guilty plea.

In May, 25 teenagers were arrested for underage drinking at the Schirado's rural Harrisburg home. The day after the party, Schirado told KSFY News she had no idea kids were drinking and she did not supply any alcohol. But, after talking with scores of witnesses, Lincoln County State's Attorney Tom Wollman said there is enough evidence to charge Schirado and her husband Bryan.

The Schirados were indicted on charges of contributing to a child in need of supervision and maintaining a place used for violation of beverage laws, both of which carry up to a year in jail and a possible $2,000 fine.

The trial date for the Schirados is for October 25.
