Tiny fingers, a precious itty bitty nose, and sweet little lips. Meet Cameron Ihnen. His entry into the world was anything but normal.
"I asked her if she was ok, and she said no," said dad Josh Ihnen.
Stephanie Ihnen had been having contractions all day Tuesday, but the hospital said she wasn't dilated enough for delivery. But, early Wednesday morning baby Cameron had other ideas.
"I'm like oh boy here he comes," said Stephanie.
"She goes, 'the baby's coming.' I'm like what? No. So, I went in there and asked her what was going on," said Josh.
"Josh was like, 'what do you want me to do?' Just help me get to the ground and call 911. And, then, he did awesome and picked up from there."
Josh helped bring Cameron into the world right here - the couple's bathroom. At the time, he was scared.
"For one the umbilical cord was around his neck. He came out white. He wasn't getting any color. And, he wasn't breathing for a little while so I was freaking out," Josh said.
A 911 operator talked Josh through the delivery. He tied off the umbilical cord with a shoelace from his work boot. For a guy that wasn't sure if he wanted to be in the delivery room, he's now considering himself a hero.
"I do because if I would have froze who knows what could have happened," said Josh.
Stephanie agrees, "Instead of stepping out, he stepped in and delivered him."
Comfortably settled in the hospital, Stephanie and Josh are counting their blessings.
"It's one of the most amazing things, and I couldn't be happier," said Josh.
Added Stephanie, "Now I got two amazing boys and it makes it so much better."
