The Sioux Falls Regional Airport has scheduled a major construction project that will take place over extended weekends in August and September.
This project will replace the concrete runway section that lies at the intersection of runways 3-21 and 15-33.
This section of runway is over 30 years old and is in need of replacement. The remaining sections of runway are not long enough to accommodate commercial airlines while this area is closed. As a result there will be no commercial airline service while this project is underway.
The cost of this project is over $7.7 million dollars and is primarily funded by the FAA's Airport Improvement Program.
