New Era for Coyote Football

Posted: Updated:

It's a new era of USD Coyote football, a new conference, and a new head coach.  New head coach Joe Glenn has brought a new energy and enthusiasm to the program.

Junior quarterback Josh Vander Maten will lead offense.  Defensive end Tyler Starr is getting a lot of preseason accolates.

The Coyotes are going into their first season into the Missouri Valley Conference where they've been picked to finish eighth in the league.   But USD doesn't see it that way.

"We are a young team but that's not always bad. We have a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of excuiting young guys full of energy and great effort. I think you can overcome a lot when you have all three E's." says Joe Glenn

"I think we're preseason ranked eighth in the conference. We kind of take that as a diss. We know we have the guys that can step up. We are young especially on the offensive line. The young guys have done an incredible job and are getting better everyday. That really starts with the senior leadership." says wide reciever Will Powell.

"We want to change the game. We're coming into a new conference, there hasn't been anyone whos come into a new conference and won a national championship. That's kind of a goal for us. Its out there but we want to take it one day, one week, one play at a time. Change the game is what we're thinking right now." says defensive end Tyler Starr.

The Coyotes open the new season September 1st at Montana.
