HURON, S.D. (AP) - The defense quickly wrapped up its case Friday in the trial of a South Dakota bar owner who's accused of raping three girls after serving them alcohol.
Prosecutors say Werner Fajardo, 35, assaulted a 12-year-old girl and two 14-year-old girls at his El Cuervo bar in Huron. He's pleaded not guilty.
Three witnesses testified Friday before prosecutors finished their case.
The defense called two witnesses, Fajardo's brother and a 20-year-old friend of one of the girls. She claimed the girl made up the rape story.
Fajardo's lawyer says there are several inconsistencies between the girls' testimony and what they told police.
The judge dismissed a charge of sexual exploitation of a minor, saying there wasn't enough evidence.
Closing arguments are expected Friday afternoon.
