Posted: Updated:

Law enforcement officials, troopers, sheriff's and federal agents from across South Dakota came together to play softball and to honor their fallen fellow officers. It was called "Battle Of The Badges" going on out at Harmodon Park in Sioux Falls.

Officer's friends and family showed up to show their support for their loved ones who put their life on the line every day.

it was an especially emotional day for Toni Schaffer who's dad Ronald "RJ" Johnson was killed in the line of duty last April at the State Penitentiary.

"Dad would have loved to be here, this was his favorite thing to do, was sit at games. He always sat in the outfield lines so he could watch everything and he's here today. He never misses a game and I know he's here."

8 teams played on 4 fields they named after South Dakota law enforcement officials killed in the line of duty.

They are Sergeant Chad Mechels, Correctional Officer Ronald Johnson, Officer Ryan McCandless and Officer Nick Armstrong.
