Search started for missing South Dakota prison inmate

A search is under way for a missing state prison inmate.

Inmate Shane Archer was missing from Unit C, the minimum-security unit of the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary, during a count this evening.

The 38-year-old is serving a five year sentence for Grand Theft out of Lawrence County.

He is a white male, 5-feet-6 inches tall and weighs approximately 230 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who sees Archer or knows of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
