South Dakota man sentenced to prison for assault

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Fort Thompson man has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for assault.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson announced recently that Charles His Law, 29, was sentenced for the November 2011 incident. Johnson says His Law assaulted a woman, who suffered serious injuries.

He pleaded guilty to the charge in April. His Law was turned over to the U.S. Marshal's Service following the sentencing.
