Posted: Updated:

Sioux Falls Police say a drunk driver led them on an overnight chase with speeds reaching up to 70 miles per hour.

Ervins Diaz-Herrara, 21, of Sioux Falls is charged with DWI 4th, Aggravated Eluding, Driving Revoked, and No Insurance.

Police say Diaz-Herrara led police on a high-speed chase early Tuesday morning that went through several neighborhoods in a span of only five minutes.

The chase started at 1:27 a.m. near 10th Street and Cliff Avenue. Police say someone reported the car was swerving all over the road.

Officer Sam Clemens says an officer saw the vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect drove away and led police on a chase of speeds up to 70 m.p.h.

The chase ended on Summit between 13th and 14th streets where the Diaz-Herrera tried going around a road closed sign and landed his car in a pile of dirt.
