RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Wyoming man accused of shooting at law officers following a vehicle chase in South Dakota has been scheduled for trial late this year on charges including attempted murder.
Judge Mary Thorstenson has reserved the week of Dec. 3 for the trial of James Baker, 41. He has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, aggravated assault on law enforcement and other charges.
The Gillette, Wyo., man is accused of being in a shootout with officers in the Rapid City area on Jan. 10. No officers were hit, but Baker was wounded and hospitalized. Baker is formerly from the South Dakota town of Box Elder, which is near Rapid City.
