Valley Springs man found guilty of raping a child

Kevin Buchholtz of Valley Springs was found guilty Friday of First-degree rape, sexual contact with a child and indecent exposure involving a child.

The conviction comes after a week-long Minnehaha County jury trial, during which the now seven-year-old victim testified. According to the prosecution, the incidents occurred in June 2011 in a Valley Springs mobile home park.

A sentencing date has yet to be set, but Buchholz faces up to life in prison. There still remains two additional cases involving additional victims from Valley Springs.
