Sioux Falls police are stepping up enforcement in school zones this week.
At Monday's police briefing, Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said police are increasing enforcement in school zones. He said they are focused on getting people to slow down because it is easy to breeze past school zones. Clemens said most people are not paying attention because they are not used to school being in session.
While slowing down from 30 m.p.h to 15 m.p.h might not seem significant, Clemens said it can make a huge difference.
"Really it could make a difference between somebody getting hurt or getting to school," Clemens said.
Clemens stressed officers will be writing tickets and officers will not be giving any breaks.
