11AA

1 – Sioux Falls Washington (1-0), 25

2 – Brandon Valley (1-0), 20

3 – Sioux Falls Roosevelt (1-0), 15, previously #4 

4 – Sioux Falls O'Gorman (0-1), 9, previously #3

5 – Sioux Falls Lincoln (1-0), 3, previously unranked

5 -- Yankton (1-0), 3

~ Sioux Falls Washington, the preseason #1, opened the season with a 49-7 win over Rapid City Central and was a unanimous #1 pick in the first rankings of the regular season. Off a 18-15 win over Sioux Falls O'Gorman, Brandon Valley held the #2 spot while O'Gorman fell to fourth. Defending champion Sioux Falls Roosevelt moved up a spot to third after a 49-8 win over Aberdeen Central at home. Sioux Falls Lincoln, which opened with a 50-6 win over Rapid City Stevens, tied Yankton for the #5 spot. The Bucks defeated Pierre, 27-21, on the road.

11A

1 – Dell Rapids (0-0), 25

2 – West Central (1-0), 20

3 – Dakota Valley (1-0), 15

4 – Harrisburg (1-0), 9, previously #5

5 -- Tea Area (1-0), 5, previously unranked

~ Dell Rapids, which has won consecutive titles and gone 23-1 in the past two seasons, remains at top of the 11A poll even through the Quarriers don't open until Friday against Canton. West Central defeated Vermillion, 35-0, and increased its hold on #2 with Dakota Valley at #3 following a 40-12 win over Elk Point/Jefferson. Harrisburg defeated Milbank, 27-21, and moved up a spot to #4 from #5 in the preseason rankings. Tea Area, previously unranked, moved into the top five with a 41-6 win over Bon Homme. Spearfish received some support but fell out of the top five after a 7-0 loss to 11B #4 St. Thomas More.

11B

1 – Tri-Valley (1-0), 25

2 – Winner(1-0), 20

3 – Flandreau (1-0), 15, previously #4

4 – St. Thomas More (1-0), 10, previously #5

5 – Canton (0-1), 3

McCook Central Montrose (1-0), 2

~ Tri-Valley, which won its 13th straight game, opened with a 41-23 win over previously #3 Canton and was the unanimous #1 pick. Winner defeated Parkston, 39-0 to hold onto #2 while Flandreau, which defeated Deuel Area, 36-22, moved up from fourth in the preseason poll to third in the first rankings of the regular season. St. Thomas More, a 7-0 winner over 11A Spearfish, also advanced a spot to #4. Canton fell from #3 to #5. McCook Central/Montrose did not make the poll but received support, just one vote out of fifth.

1 – Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan (1-0), 25

2 – Kimball/White Lake (1-0), 18

3 – Deubrook Area (1-0), 17

4 – Potter County (0-0), 10

5 – Howard (0-1), 3

~ In 9AA, Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan, which won for the 11th straight time since a loss to Canistota in 2011, is the unanimous choice after a 60-6 win over Freeman. Kimball/White Lake defeated Mt. Vernon, 38-14, to remain at the #2 spot. Deubrook Area and Potter County stayed at #3 and #4, respectively, with open weeks. Both teams play on Friday. Howard lost to Canistota, 20-16, and moved into the #5 spot with the impressive opening week performance. The jump by Howard was at the expense of Miller, which was off this week but still received support.

1 – Canistota (1-0), 25

2 – Corsica/Stickney (0-0), 20

3 – Irene/Wakonda (1-0), 15

4 – Warner (1-0), 7, previously unranked

5 – Colman/Egan (0-0), 6

~ Canistota remained at the top of 9A, hanging on for a 20-16 win over 9AA Howard. It was the Hawks' 25th straight win. Corsica/Stickney, which opens this week, stayed at #2. Irene/Wakonda rolled to a 44-7 win over Menno and remained #3. Warner defeated Wessington/Wolsey, 20-8, and replaced Wall at #4 in the rankings. Wall trailed White River, 33-0, in the second quarter when the game was halted by lightning. #5 Colman/Egan will open against 9AA #3 Deubrook Area on Friday. Hanson, a 22-14 win over Woonsocket/Wessington Springs, Sanborn Central, also received support in this week's rankings.

9B

1—Viborg/Hurley (1-0), 25

2 – Harding County (1-0), 20

3 – Avon (1-0), 15

4 – Castlewood (0-0), 10

5 – Hitchcock/Tulare (1-0), 5

~ Class 9B did not have any change from the preseason rankings. Viborg-Hurley held a firm hold on #1 after a 50-14 win to open the season. Harding County was impressive in a 47-0 win over Dupree. Avon opened with a 38-8 win over Tripp/Delmont/Armour and #5 Hitchcock/Tulare dominated in a 42-0 shutout. #4 Castlewood opens this week. Defending champion Waverly/South Shore won its 13th straight game, 54-14 win over Great Plains Lutheran but did not receive support.
