Posted: Updated:

No one was injured in a house fire in east Vermillion Tuesday. Fire crews responded to the fire in the 1200-block of East Cherry Street at 11:23 a.m.

EMS Director Lee Huber, Vermillion Clay County EMS, says the fire caused fairly extensive fire damage in the bathroom and kitchen areas of the house. Huber says there was also smoke damage throughout the house.

Dawn Nelson works down the street from where the fire happened. Nelson says four people live at the house and one of the roommates says no one was inside the home during the fire.

Huber says four engines and numerous other trucks responded to the fire. Huber says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
