Sioux Falls shifts to stage two water management

Posted: Updated:

The Sioux Falls City Public Works issued stage two water management after The Big Sioux River flow went below 50 cubic feet per-second.

With stage two comes new restrictions on lawn-watering.

Lawn-watering is to be done only one day a week and that day depends on the last letter of your address:
2 and 3-Wenesday
6 and 7- Saturday
7 and 8- Sunday

KSFY News spoke with Public Works Utilities Operations Administrator, Trent Lubbers and he says if the drought continues and Sioux Falls moves to stage three, we will be prepared.

"We certainly hope for the right amount of precipitation.  We have those procedures in place to address the situation,"Lubbers said. "And we will implement them if we have too."

Stage three could occur if the flow of The Big Sioux River goes below 20 cubic feet per-second.
