Sioux Falls mobile home burglar claims he wanted to buy the trailer

A Sioux Falls man is facing burglary and drug charges after breaking into a mobile home which he claimed he wanted to buy.

Jason Munce, 38, of Sioux Falls was arrested early Thursday morning. Police say shortly after midnight a neighbor reported seeing a flashlight inside the trailer home in the 2000-block of West Orwin Place. The neighbor told police he knew no one was supposed to be inside the home at the time.

At 12:20 a.m. officers arrived and also saw someone with a flashlight inside the motor home. Police say the Munce came outside with an .MP3 player.

Munce told police he wanted to purchase the motor home and had seen the outside of it earlier in the day. Munce said he returned that night and saw there was a key in the door. He said he thought it would be a good time to check out the inside of the trailer.

Police talked with the trailer's owner who said he was not selling the home and did not know how the key was in the doorknob.

Munce was arrested for First Degree Burglary, but faced additional charges during the arrest. Police found a pot pipe on Munce and charged him with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia.
