A pregnant woman from California died in a car accident on Interstate 90 near Kadoka Wednesday.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, Ashley Greywoode, 34, of Pasadena was a passenger in a 2004 Ford Escape that her husband Jewel, 31, was driving. Two young children were secured in car seats in the back seat of the vehicle.
The family was just two miles east of Kadoka at about 12:13 p.m. when the accident happened. According to the Department of Public Safety, Jewel was passing a truck and a rear tire blew causing the vehicle to enter the median and roll over.
All the people in the car were wearing seatbelts or were restrained in car seats, but Ashley Greywoode suffered fatal injuries as did her unborn child.
Jewel Greywoode received non-life threatening injuries and the two young children had only minor injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol and Jackson County Sheriff's Office assisted
