One arrested in Sioux Falls brawl

Posted: Updated:

Police tell KSFY one person is in custody after a brawl involving about a dozen people in a home on the 6100 block of West 43rd Street in Sioux Falls.

Sergeant Aaron Nyberg says about ten people showed up at 6107 West 43rd Street with baseball bats in hand.

They started a physical altercation with people living in the home, during which a firearm was displayed, then fled to the apartment building across the street.  Police do not know whether anyone involved in the fight lives in the building.

The residents grabbed bats and golf clubs and chased the aggressors through the apartment's parking lot.  During the chase two vehicles were damaged with bats and windows were broken in the apartment building with rocks.

Nyberg tells us one 17-year-old boy has been arrested for intentional damage to property.

The investigation is ongoing.  We can expect an update Friday at briefing.
