Regular Season - Week 2 - September 3, 2012

11AA

1 – Sioux Falls Washington (2-0), 25

2 – Brandon Valley (2-0), 20

3 – Sioux Falls Roosevelt (2-0), 15

4 -- Sioux Falls Lincoln (1-1), 8, previously #5

5 -- Yankton (2-0), 6

~ Sioux Falls Washington, the preseason #1, remained top-ranked with a 32-7 win over #4 Sioux Falls Lincoln. BV stayed at #2 with a 55-13 win over Watertown and SF Roosevelt held onto #3 over a 19-7 win over previously #4 SF O'Gorman, which dropped out of the top-five. Despite a loss, Sioux Falls Lincoln moved to #4 while Yankton stayed at #5 with a 30-7 win over Huron.  

11A

1 – Dell Rapids (1-0), 25

2 – West Central (2-0), 20

3 – Dakota Valley (2-0), 15

4 -- Tea Area (2-0), 10, previously #5

5 -- Spearfish (1-1), 4, previously unranked but with support

~ Dell Rapids, a two-time defending champion, opened with a 39-7 win over Canton and stayed at the top of the 11A rankings. West Central rolled to a 35-7 win over Madison and stayed #2. Dakota Valley stayed at #3 with a 35-0 victory over Beresford. Tea Area, previously #5, moved into the fourth spot and moved to 2-0 with a 41-0 decision over Lennox. Spearfish defeated Rapid City Stevens, 38-0, to move back into the #5 spot after falling out a week ago.

11B

1 – Tri-Valley (2-0), 25

2 – Winner(2-0), 23

3 – Flandreau (2-0), 16

4 -- Aberdeen Roncalli (2-0), 8, previously unranked

5 -- Garretson (1-1), 6, previously unranked

Others receiving support

St. Thomas More (1-1), 1, previously #4

~ Tri-Valley, which won its 14th straight game, edged past new #5 Garretson, 16-8. Winner stayed at #2 with a 56-31 win over previously #4 St. Thomas More, which fell from the top five. Flandreau remained at #3 with another impressive win, 49-0, over McCook Central/Montrose. Aberdeen Roncalli shut out Mobridge-Pollock, 36-0, for its second straight win and took over the #4 spot. On the heels of its impressive home performance against #1 Tri-Valley, Garretson took over the #5 spot. St. Thomas More fell out of the rankings but still received support. Canton (0-2) lost to 11A #1 Dell Rapids and fell out of the poll, even though both its losses were to teams ranked #1 (lost week one to Tri-Valley).

9AA

1 – Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan (1-0), 25

2 – Kimball/White Lake (2-0), 20

3 – Deubrook Area (1-0), 15

4 – Potter County (1-0), 10

5 – Howard (0-1), 3

~ In 9AA, Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan, which takes its 11-game winning streak into a rivalry matchup with 9A #1 Canistota in the FCA Bowl at USF Stadium on Friday, remained #1. Kimball/White Lake rolled to a 44-16 win over Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central and remained at #2. Deubrook Area, which received 306 rushing yards and six TDs from Ryan Knutson, ran past Colman-Egan, 55-26 and stayed at #3. Potter County upended Faulkton, 33-12, to hold onto the #4 spot while Howard was idle and held onto #5. Gregory won for the second straight time as Jared Bartling had a combined seven TDs and 410 combined rushing and passing yards, as the Gorillas defeated Colome, 48-20. The Gorillas received support in the poll.

9A

1 – Canistota (1-0), 25

2 – Corsica/Stickney (1-0), 20

3 – Irene-Wakonda (2-0), 15

4 -- Hanson (2-0), 7, previously unranked

5 – Warner (1-0), 5

~ Canistota, which will take a 25-game winning streak into its matchup with 9AA #1 Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan on Friday in the FCA Bowl at USF Stadium, remained at the top of 9A in an off week. Corsica/Stickney had a 50-0 win over Menno to remain #2 while Irene/Wakonda remained at #3 with a 48-0 win over Marion. Previously unranked Hansen moved to 2-0 and into the #4 spot with a 30-14 win over 9B #5 Avon. Warner, which was idle, held onto the #5 ranking with Wilmot (2-0) earning support in this week's rankings. Previously #5 Colman-Egan fell out of the top-five after a loss to Deubrook Area.

9B

1—Viborg-Hurley (2-0), 25

2 – Harding County (2-0), 20

3 – Castlewood (1-0), 15

4 – Langford Area (2-0), 9

5 – Avon (1-1), 6

~ The top two spots in 9B remained unchanged as both Viborg-Hurley (44-0 over Baltic) and Harding County (53-0 over Newell) had impressive wins. Castlewood had a 56-6 win over Lake Preston and moved up a spot to #3. Previously unranked Langford Area won for the second straight time to move into the #4 spot. Previously #3 Avon fell to #5 with a loss to 9A #4 Hanson. Hitchcock-Tulare, which had been ranked #5, lost a 22-20 decision to Wolsey-Wessington and dropped out of the top-five. Also of note, defending 9B champion Waverly-South Shore had its 13-game winning streak end in a 34-14 loss to 9AA Clark/Willow Lake.
