The Sioux Falls City Council voted 7-0 Tuesday night to ban texting while operating a motor vehicle.
The ordinance reads like this: "No person may operate or be in actual physical control of a motor vehicle while using an electronic communication device to compose, read, or send an electronic message when the vehicle is in motion or a part of traffic."
The ordinance will take effect twenty days after the vote.
