Update: Suspect in Lyon Co. abduction attempt linked to Dickinson County

Posted: Updated:

The Lyon County Sheriff's Department in Iowa is investigating an attempted abduction of a 61-year-old woman-- which could be linked to two incidents in Sioux County earlier this week.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff's office, the abduction attempt happened shortly after noon Wednesday in Little Rock, Iowa. The suspect tried kidnapping the 61-year-old woman from her home.

According to a public safety message from the Sioux County Sheriff's office, the Little Rock incident could be related to two occasions in Lake Park, Iowa. On September 3 and 4, a male matching the same description approached two different females and attempted to entice them into the van. If anyone has information on the Lake Park incidents they are encouraged to call the Lake Park Police Department at 712-336-2525.

The suspect is described as a white man, 60-65 years of age, with long hair and a beard. His hair and beard were described as being brown with gray in both of them. He is approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 250 pounds. The subject was driving a smaller, older, dark-colored (possibly black) car with a white top.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office urges citizens to contact the sheriff's office at 712-472-8300 if they have any information which may assist in the investigation.
