With school now back in session we are proud to resume our weekly feature which focuses on great students who are doing great things. Our first "Scholar of the Week" is Elizabeth Bradfield of Lake Preston High School and she has her eyes on a very big career.
Elizabeth Bradfield carries a 3.94 grade point average at lake Preston high school and carries a class load which includes calculus and government....and she is especially enjoying that government class because she's taking it during a big election year. "I actually do find it interesting. We're doing a lot of debating to just see what that's like and how that works."
And debating in class isn't something that Elizabeth finds too challenging or daunting. She is on the school's speech team and routinely takes part in oral interpretation competitions. Her teacher and coach in that department is Treva Casper, who says Elizabeth is the type of student you love to have in class. "She loves public speaking. She excels in oral interp and she really loves to get up in front of other kids and speak."
When Elizabeth isn't in school studying or working on speech competitions, she has another part of her life that she focuses on....another part of her life that she says is very important to her. "I'm really involved in my church. I used to teach Sunday school and mission trips and vacation bible school and stuff like that I love doing."
Elizabeth says she eventually wants to go to film school and make movies. For being named our "Scholar of the Week", Elizabeth will receive a $100 scholarship from Kingsbury Electric Cooperative, which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
