ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - An Aberdeen woman who stabbed her boyfriend in the neck with a steak knife during an argument in their home in March has been sentenced to about half a year in jail.
Crystal Wettengel, 23, earlier this summer pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of domestic aggravated assault. She initially faced an attempted murder charge. Authorities say the knife blade narrowly missed an artery that supplies blood to the head.
The incident will not go on Wettengel's record if she successfully completes five years of probation. She also must pay more than $18,000 in restitution.
Prosecutors unsuccessfully sought 10 years of prison time for Wettengel.
