MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota's 5th District is being sued by a fundraising consultant who says he owes her money for work on his campaign.
In a lawsuit filed Friday in Hennepin County District Court, attorneys for Erika Roland allege that Chris Fields did not fulfill provisions of a contract he had with the professional fundraiser. Fields won the 5th District Republican primary last month and is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison in November in the Minneapolis-area district.
Roland's lawsuit is asking that Fields pay her a total of $23,800. That includes payment for services, two pre-arranged bonuses she says she is owed, a termination fee and attorney fees.
Fields is making his first run for political office. A campaign spokeswoman had no immediate comment.
