GermanFest features live music, food, and Dachshund races
Another big event in downtown Sioux Falls Saturday night was the German festival which was held at Falls Park in Sioux Falls.
Hundreds of people got to listen to some great music by live bands, eat some authentic German foods and some even dressed the part.
Of course don't have to be German to take part.
We met one man who is from Germany but came here to start a new life.
"I came to this country, the United States of America to be an American. I got here and two years later and not even a citizen yet and I joined the U.S. Marine Corps and it doesn't get any better than that. That's where I got my education," Ray Hoffman said.
Also out at Germanfest was the popular Dachshund races
Our very own Nancy Naeve Brown's dog, Lucy took first place in one of the races.
It was all sponsored by the Dachshund rescue. It's their biggest event.
51 dogs competed in 8 races it was the fifth year for the event. There was also a costume contest before the big races.
All the money raised goes to the Dachshund rescue. The free event is held every September.
