The 2012 President's Bowl came to a close Saturday night at Howard Wood Field with two great matchups involving the four Sioux Falls powers.
In the late game, the Lincoln Patriots rallied from an early deficit to stun the Roosevelt Rough Riders 36-35 in overtime. Lincoln tailback Caden Quintanillia had two late scores to put his team ahead.
However, the Rough Riders would answer. Behind an outstanding performance from quarterback Taryn Christion, who had four rushing touchdowns, Roosevelt was an extra point away from continuing the game. Yet it was not to be, as the PAT fell short, giving Lincoln their second-straight stunning win in as many years.
There was certainly less drama in the early game which pitted Washington against O'Gorman. Despite a strong defensive effort by the Knights, it was the Warriors who would breakthrough with 24 unanswered points.
Washington tailback Sam Cooke rushed for two touchdowns and quarterback Jon Hander threw for another as the Warriors pitched a shutout over O'Gorman, 24-0.
