RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Black Hills State University will be hosting a history presentation on the 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre.
Jerome Greene is a researcher and writer of Native American, American West, and Western military history. He'll give a free lecture on the topic Sept. 20 at Black Hills State University's student union.
Greene will read from his recently completed manuscript about Wounded Knee and discuss various related topics.
Greene has written more than a dozen books on various aspects of 19th century Indian Wars, with emphasis on the Great Sioux War of 1876-77.
Greene is a 1968 history education graduate of Black Hills State. He received a master's degree from the University of South Dakota and went on to a career in the National Park Service.
