Three Huron people have been charged with connection to a stolen vehicle which was found consumed by flames in Mitchell.

Jeremiah Hart, 22, Patrick Red Legs, 18, and a 16-year-old juvenile boy, all of Huron, are charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle in connection with a suspicious fire reported in Mitchell Sunday morning.

Mitchell authorities contacted Huron police at approximately 6:30 am regarding a vehicle fire in the Mitchell area. The fire initially happened at 1 am Sunday morning.

The three suspects reportedly drove the vehicle from Huron to Mitchell then set it on fire in a tree strip after being unable to get it started.

Hart and Red Legs are being held at the Beadle County jail. Hart faces an additional charge of aggravated assault from an unrelated incident in Huron over the weekend.

The investigation has been turned over to the Mitchell Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.

According to the Huron Police Department, additional charges may be pending in Davison County.
