Names of men found dead in Minnesota lake released

Posted: Updated:

BENA, Minn. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of two men whose bodies were recovered from a Cass County lake after their boat capsized in strong wind.

The sheriff's office identifies the victims as 43-year-old William Daley of Minneapolis and 53-year-old Clarence Dickens of Princeton.

Sheriff's officials received a report of a capsized boat on Lake Winnibigoshish near Bena on Saturday about 6:30 p.m. Deputies found the boat and several items floating nearby.

The area was searched by boat and by air until dark. Authorities say the wind was gusting between 30 mph and 40 mph at the time.

Searchers found the men's bodies Sunday.

The Lakes Area Dive Team, the state Department of Natural Resources and Leech Lake tribal police helped in the search.
