O'Gorman school campus put on lockdown

Posted: Updated:

After reports of gunfire, one nearby school stepped into action.

The O'Gorman school campus sits just blocks from the scene of today's activity.

The school put students on lockdown to keep them safe, and sent out an email to parents to keep them informed.

After receiving an email from the school about the lockdown, anxious parents waited in line to pick up their kids.

Inside O'Gorman high school, students were told the school was on lockdown but they weren't quite sure why.

Morgan Roth, a freshman at O'Gorman said "I thought it was a drill, until they went on the intercom, five times and they kept telling us and then after that I was kind of confused on what's happening."

Morgan's mother Peggy Roth said "I knew that if O'Gorman went to a modified lockdown that our students would be safe so I didn't panic, I don't quite know what's going on for sure but I did call the school and they said the students are safe. "

Overall, parents and students say it was the school's lockdown procedure which made them feel safe.
