Abduction investigation called off in Rock Rapids

Update at 7:50 p.m.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office was able to determine that there has been no abduction near Sunshine Foods in Rock Rapids. Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal tells KSFY it was a group of teenagers messing around. Thanks to everyone who helped to get the word out.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Department is looking into a possible abduction.

Sheriff Blythe Bloemendaal tells KSFY witnesses saw a girl, approximately 15-years-old, forced into an older-style blue Grand Prix. Witnesses say the girl was kicking and screaming.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on the street just north of Sunshine Foods in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

At this point, the Sheriff's Office has yet to receive a missing persons report, and needs to ascertain whether witnesses saw a family dispute or an abduction.
